We are delighted to announce that our Group Scout Leader, Don Longhurst has been awarded the Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) in the New Year honours list for his dedication to Scouting and the Alsager community.
On receiving his award Don said, “I’m surprised and delighted to receive this honour. So many people deserve to be recognised for the hours they put into volunteering within their communities.
Awards like this are not the reason that I’ve dedicated many hours to Scouting and the community, but I am honoured to think that I have played a small part in the growth and development of young people through Scouting.
I would like to thank all of the volunteers in the Scout Group who have been, and continue to be, crucial to the success of Alsager Scouts.”
